Sikaflex-403 Tank and Silo is a new one-part, moisture curing, elastic sealant, developed by Sika’s industry-leading chemists. It is ideally suited for sealing segmented or bolted steel tanks including glass-fused-to-steel, epoxy coated or stainless-steel tanks and silos, as well as wall to floor connection joints.
It can also be used for floor and wall joints in concrete drive-in silos. Its enhanced performance in terms of durability, temperature resistance and movement capability combine to provide a robust silo and tank sealant for use in agriculture, the food industry and organic waste processing such as biogas production.
Sika worked closely with Permastore, the technical leader and an established trusted global brand within the modular bolted containment and storage industry, to trial and test the product ahead of its UK launch.
An important consideration in this sector is to ensure that finished tank structures are leak free. Any leaks could allow the contents to contaminate the surrounding environment, including waterways.
Sikaflex-403 Tank and Silo boasts outstanding resistance to organic acids making it suitable for both domestic and municipal sewage as well as liquid manure and silage liquid.
It has also been developed to withstand temperatures of up to 65°C in digestion liquids, making it ideal for for use in tanks manufactured for the biogas industry.
Johnathon Brook, Engineering & Design Director at Permastore Limited said: “We’re proud to have worked with Sika in the development and testing phase of this product to help make sure that the new product was going to perform to the levels that Permastore requires for every component in our range of modular bolted tanks and silos.
“Permastore selects the most appropriate sealant for each application, and we believe that Sikaflex -403 Tank and Silo provides an enhanced, robust, versatile, and reliable sealant helping us continue Protecting What’s Important”.
